a berry special day

Zara's First Birthday: All of Zara's berry special friends were invited to Sunday Lunch including her family, grandparents, aunties, uncles and godparents. Zara was kitted out head-to-toe in "SS" and even mommy had on strawberry earrings.

The tables were bedecked in strawberry linen, pails and watering cans filled with red and pink roses and gerberas. Strawberry Shortcake and her friends (Custard as well!) could not be missed poking their heads from behind the foliage.

Fun was had by all - if it was not trying to cheat in the All about Zara Quiz, then it was surely at playing croquet on the lawns. Jars of sweets were given as prizes to the winners and there were tons to go around when the piñata was broken open - and the stick was snapped in two!

Everyone then sang Happy Birthday as Zara tried to blow out her first birthday candle on top of her Strawberry Shortcake hat cake - but all she ended up was with was icing on her foot - yummy!
And for the drive home, everyone had a baker's box filled with strawberry jam and muffins plus their own "make a wish" candle.
