A Piece of Cake
A simple cupcake clipart image was used on all homemade stationery: email invitation, place card flags. placemats, thank you cards etc.

Mix and Match
Any tea ware will do, so match Granny's priceless porcelain with basement bargains from local home ware stores, or better yet scour flea markets and start your own china collection.

Pat a Cake
Custom placemats were made with the following features:

Cupcake motif
Space for guest's to write a message of advice for the new parents
Fill in the word of popular nursery rhymes.

Dress a Cupcake
As part of the menu and for fun and games, plain iced cupcakes were given to each guest and a buffet of sprinkles, icing tubes and other edible decorations were placed in the centre of the table for guests to decorate to their heart's (read: stomach's) content.

Shower Me
Insert a paper flag into each cupcake at each place setting - write the guest's name card or something fun like "Shower me!" or "Sprinkle away!"

Bake Off
Have the guest of honour vote for the best cupcake. Hand out little 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cupcake flags. These would make a nice photo op. together with the judge and winner. For prizes, send guests home with essential cupcake items like tea towels, silicone cupcake cups, spatulas, sprinkles etc.
