TOP TABLE TIP 1
Decorate the food as well as your table:
Use fresh herbs: cut, tear or chop parsley, rosemary, thyme etc. and garnish salads, vegetables and meat dishes. These little touches do not go unnoticed.

TOP TABLE TIP 2
Create a restaurant feel by setting the table with butter plates and knives and serve fresh from the oven miniature bread rolls with herbed butter pads.

TOP TABLE TIP 3
Use your best china, silver and crystal. I have never forgot the article I read about how Colin Cowie (South African born Party Planner Extraordinaire) lost all of his pricey possessions in an earthquake and promised from that day on he would eat even his cereal out of his Wedgewood bowls.

One Bite Delights
For a special touch, set up a tea station but with sweet bite sized treats. Consider making these yourself or visit your local bakery and you will be amazed to see what is on offer. Go for variety of different options.

Also a full proof dessert option for those who are not that partial to dessert (hard to believe) bring out a box of Belgian or Swiss Chocolate and let everyone indulge in their favourite favourite.

Package up left over ones in cellophane bags or mini boxes, tie with ribbon.

Taking the Guesswork out of Gifting
In addition to giving your mom a well-deserved break on Mothers Day, it is always nice to spoil her with a thoughtful present. Whilst our ideas are not necessarily new they are guaranteed to be appreciated.

Flowers: As one becomes older there are less opportunities to receive flowers, so Mothers Day is the perfect day to treat her. For an added twist why not print your message on a large piece of paper and wrap the beautiful bouquet in it. Another alternative is to give potted flowers and tie a pretty decoration to it.

Perfume: Give your mom her choice fragrance: buy the perfume rather than eau de toilette then only a small bottle is required to decant into a pretty glass perfume bottle.

Collection: Consider if your mom has a collection: maybe she collects hearts or like myself every Mothers Day my girls add a piece to my Wedgewood crockery collection.

Hobby: Nowadays it seems even having a hobby is luxury, so spoil your mom with a gift voucher to her favourite stockist, possibly she is a keen knitter or plays golf.

Subscription: Give a book gift voucher or a subscription to her favourite magazine. Add a personalized book plate or bookmark instead of a card.
